Weaving stories through dance

The Dance Sutra collective

Where Tradition Meets Expression

Dance Sutra is a collective of passionate dancers and educators dedicated to celebrating and sharing the richness of Indian movement traditions. Founded by Chaitanya, Keerthy, Neethu, Ninu, Silpa, and Swathi, the group brings together diverse training and experience across classical and contemporary forms. Originally from India and now based in the Netherlands, we carry our cultural roots into a global context—creating spaces where tradition connects with new audiences and perspectives.

Our members are individually trained across a range of forms including Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Mohiniyattam, Bellydance, semi-classical, and Bollywood, each bringing their own depth and specialization into the collective. This diversity allows Dance Sutra to create work that is both rooted in tradition and open to evolving interpretations.

Our practice moves seamlessly between solo performance, ensemble productions, and regular classes, creating spaces for both artistic expression and structured learning. Alongside stage work, we offer workshops and training programs that invite dancers of all levels to engage with these forms in a meaningful and joyful way.

At its heart, Dance Sutra is about connection—between form and freedom, discipline and expression, tradition and today.
